Zambia: Shadow Report on the Status of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Individuals Non-governmental organizations may submit “shadow reports,” which serve as an additional source of information for UN Committee members. In the shadow report, IGLHRC and Global Rights offer our own evaluation of the state’s compliance with the treaty. The two organizations raised the issue of continuing criminalization of consensual homosexual relationships in Zambia and the impact of these laws on the lives of everyday citizens. The report specifically details ways in which these laws lead to violence and discrimination against Zambians, particularly LGBT human rights defenders. The Zambia Shadow Report was submitted for consideration to the Human Rights Committee on July 9, 2007. |
